Downloading or deleting your data

Ask for a copy of everything the site holds about you, or delete your account and see what goes and what stays.

Both are on Account settings, under "Danger zone". Each needs a recent sign-in, so you may be asked to sign in again first.

Download your data

  1. Open Account settings.
  2. Under "Download your data", choose "Ask for a download".
  3. Wait a few minutes. You get an email and a notification when it's ready.
  4. Download the ZIP from the same place. The link works for 7 days.

You can ask once every 7 days. If a download fails, you can ask again straight away.

What's in the ZIP

It's a set of JSON files:

File What it holds
account.json Your account, your usernames and how you sign in
profile.json Your profile and settings
mods.json Your mods and their versions
comments.json Your comments
likes.json The mods and comments you liked
follows.json Who you follow and who follows you
gallery.json Your albums and gallery screenshots
collections.json Your collections
badges-and-achievements.json Your badges and achievements
warnings-and-appeals.json Your warnings and appeals
connections.json Your connected accounts
security-events.json Recent sign-ins and security activity

Mod files aren't in it. They download from each mod's page. No secrets are included, and staff-only notes aren't part of it.

Delete your account

  1. Open Account settings.
  2. Under "Delete account", open "Delete my account".
  3. Read what goes with it. The page lists your mods that will be removed and any that pass to a co-author.
  4. Type your @username to confirm.

What happens straight away

You're signed out on every device, and the account is scheduled for deletion in 15 days. If you sign in during that time, you see the date it goes.

You can't undo this yourself. Until the 15 days are up, only an admin can bring the account back. To ask, write to support@gtapolicemods.com or open a support ticket on the GTAPoliceMods Discord.

What goes after 15 days

  • Your account, profile, sessions, follows, likes, notifications and security activity
  • Your mods, albums and collections, and their files
  • Your comments stay in place, shown as written by "[deleted user]"

A mod with an accepted co-author isn't removed. It passes to the co-author who was added first.

What stays

  • Moderation records. Warnings and other decisions are kept, because they're needed for abuse and legal follow-up.
  • Your usernames, on hold. They can't be taken at sign-up for 30 days.

When you can't do either

For 7 days after getting back into an account through recovery, you can't download its data or delete it. The hold is there so a recovery that went to the wrong person can't be used to take the data or destroy the account. Account settings shows when it ends.
