Credits and permissions

Credit the people whose work is in your mod, get permission before you share it, and know what is never allowed.

If your mod uses anything you didn't make, credit who made it. If you're uploading someone else's mod, or an edit of it, you need their permission first, and the page has to say you have it. Missing credits and reuploads without permission are two of the most common reasons a version is sent back.

The rules

  • Other people's work needs a credit. Models, textures, scripts, sounds, templates and code: name who made each part.
  • A reupload or an edit needs the original author's permission. Say on the page that you have it and where it came from, for example "Shared with permission from @name" or the license the original was released under.
  • Models taken from other games are allowed when the source is credited. They come down if the owner sends a valid takedown.
  • Leaked or paid assets are never allowed. That includes paid FiveM assets and anything from behind a paywall, whoever gave it to you.

Where to put credits

Put them in the mod's description, under their own heading, and repeat them in the archive's readme so they travel with the file.

Credits
- Base model: Jane Doe (used with permission)
- Lightbar: John Smith, released free to edit with credit
- Livery template: Blue Line Garage
- Conversion and edits: me

For each credit, give the name, what they made, and the permission or license you're relying on.

People who worked on it with you

Someone who made the mod with you can be a co-author instead of a credit. The mod's owner invites them by @username, up to 10 people. The invite shows on their dashboard, and they appear on the mod once they accept. A co-author can edit the details, manage screenshots and upload new versions.

What the site checks

Every file is fingerprinted when it's uploaded. A file that exactly matches one another author uploaded is flagged for the reviewer. A file that exactly matches one removed from the site before is refused outright, with the message "This file matches one removed from GTAPoliceMods and can't be uploaded."

Only exact copies are caught this way. Repacked copies are caught by reviewers, reports and takedowns.

What happens when it goes wrong

A version with missing credits is sent back with the reason. Add the credits and submit again.

A moderator can also issue a warning with the rejection or removal. The starting set of warnings is:

Warning Points Points count for Also
Missing credits 3 180 days
Reupload without permission 5 1 year Uploads paused for 30 days
Leaked paid assets 5 1 year Uploads paused for 90 days

If you had permission and the reviewer missed it, appeal within 30 days from Appeals and link the proof. See Warnings, points, bans and how to appeal.
